C++ Software Maintenance Engineering Lead
 
 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree (or Master's degree) in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • A quick mind that solves complex problems in a fast-moving environment
  • Able to learn quickly, independently, and with moderate supervision. You figure out what you need to do and how to do it, then do it.
  • Great sense of ownership and accountability not just for your own tasks/assignments, but team, organizational and company objectives as a whole
  • 8+ years of working knowledge in wide variety of platforms and languages such as C++, .NET, Java, JS, Python, HTML5, etc.
  • 5+ years of recent C++ experience or strong desire and aptitude to master C++ on the job
  • Experience and desire in leading a global team of SW maintenance engineers
  • Able to effectively communicate with customers and convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences
 
Even better if you have:
  • Test automation experience using gtest, Cucumber, Behave, Gherkin
  • Computer HW, Networking, TCP/IP Socket level communications experience
  • Experience in database design and creation of complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers and performance optimization
  • Preferred Retail experience, especially in the Convenience Store industry and Point of Sale systems
 
 
The day-to-day:
As a C++ Software Maintenance Engineering Lead you will be responsible for leading a global team of C++ sw maintenance engineers and testers responsible for identifying and fixing production sw defects and establishing modern practices to increase and monitor SW reliability, quality and maintainability.
 
You will also:
 
  • Communicate directly with business customers and partners to understand and resolve problems both tactically (provide immediate relief/fix) and strategically (SRE)
  • Coordinate priorities with Support and Maintenance project manager
  • Communicate directly with lower levels of customer support organization
  • Communicate directly with customers as needed to understand requirements and ensure successful resolution of issues. 
  • Work closely with R&D engineering team to ensure that upcoming new features are sufficiently covered with Supportability requirements
  • Identify, design and implement Supportability product improvements
  • Provide technical and non-technical leadership to other members of the maintenance team. 
  • In addition to leading others, you will contribute directly to the tasks of the team: troubleshooting, coding, testing, etc.
  • Create and maintain processes and metrics to manage day to day operations of the maintenance team
  • Provide estimates of effort
  • Write product specifications, designs, and technical manuals.
  • Evaluate third-party products and specifications.
  • Provide feedback to peer performance reviews.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.
