The Job 
  • A proven history of game programming, current best practices, and communicating complex ideas in simple-to-understand ways.  
  • Grow and mentor the engineering team for the game, creating a norm of high-performance, with opportunities and challenges for growth. 
  • Set and enforce technical standards across the team. 
  • Establish high-level architecture, processes, and technical budgets. 
  • Ensure the quality, performance, and stability of technical deliverables 
  • Manage technical requirements and risks, removing roadblocks, raising red flags, and proposing sound solutions.  
  • Work with external engineering partners as needed to deliver key features. 
  • Work with the LiveOps team to ensure good live service metrics to detect and resolve issues and improve future process and response. 
  • Work with the Test team on automation and smart KPI initiatives to aid with QA. 
  • Work with other directors to foster good communication, drive consensus, and sustain healthy working relationships.

  • 10+ years game development experience 
  • 10+ years of C/C++ 
  • 5+ years of technical leadership experience as TD / Senior Engineer (with reports) 
  • Excellent 3D math skills 
  • Shipped at least two AAA titles, including multiplayer features. 
  • Involved in Live Service for 12+m on a AAA title 
  • Focused on leading and improving team development principles – reducing dependencies and accelerating production on complex projects. 
  • Solid knowledge of game technology domains, i.e. rendering, animation, AI, cameras, controls, online, audio, build pipelines, etc. and hands-on experience with multiple. 
  • People management experience, including career progression, mediation and conflict resolution skills. 
Nice to Have 
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science (or equivalent) 
  • Office365 and Google Suite proficiency.  
  • A mindset of continuous improvement; humble and ambitious. 
  • Prior experience in a startup environment or small business. 
  • Adaptable, with a good sense of humor.
