The Engineer II- Manufacturing role provides daily support to designated manufacturing areas for Quality and Manufacturing.  Responsible for manufacturing process improvement and maintenance of existing processes.  Maintains MRP data for product routings and submittal of ECRs for BOM changes or other improvements & changes.  Participate on New Product Introduction teams supporting the design team and Product Management with manufacturing process and design for manufacturability support.

  • Participate daily in the SPX management system attending Tier 1 meetings for areas of responsibility
  • Daily resolve issues or elevate to the appropriate resources for resolution
  • Review New Item Review report daily and update routings and quality approvals in the MRP system
  • Review work content and standards ensuring accurate and efficient processes are in place
  • Review production tooling and update equipment using the most ergonomic, cost effective solutions
  • Provide input to the capital upgrade process and assist in preparing E-201 supporting data
  • Participate and lead root cause analysis and problem solving sessions using methods such as 5 Why and 8D
  • Work with Facility Manager to ensure a robust preventative maintenance including  Maintenance PM’s and Operator PM’s are in place in areas of responsibility
  • Implement predictive technologies to evaluate equipment status (ie; Infra-Red, Ultrasonic Leak Detection)
  • Work closely with Planning and Production Supervision to ensure schedules are attainable, adjust work content and maintain routings and BOMs to support an effective scheduling and production process
  • Lead and participate in KAIZEN events throughout the plant supporting the SPX continuous improvement program
  • Prepare reports for quality deficiencies or customer complaints related to area of responsibility
  • Work closely with Design Engineering, Technical Support and Customer Service ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and quick problem resolution

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment with fabrication and assembly processes (Stamping and dies a plus)
  • Knowledgeable in performing time studies, updating routings and reviewing Bills of Materials
  • Have participated in KAIZEN events implementing process or product improvements
  • Experienced in writing work instructions and or standard operating procedures
  • Experience working with Maintenance teams to implement an effective predictive/preventative maintenance program
  • Understanding of inventory control techniques and knowledge of implications of BOM accuracy, inventory accuracy, and material transactions/movement within the factory.
  • Understanding of the process of engineering revisions, engineering change notices, engineering deviations and the corresponding impact on manufacturing.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees
  • Solid Works or equivalent experience developing models and drawings
  • Must have Strong computer skills with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications. Able to develop summary graphs, tables, pivot tables, and other reports using PowerPoint, Excel and Word. 
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of Lean and 6 Sigma principles.
  • Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy required
  • Works well under stress with the ability to deliver on time required.

  • Bachelor Degree required in Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years in a manufacturing engineering role (preferred).
