Team Overview
A fund accounting policy professional applies their accounting expertise to conclude appropriate accounting treatment for complex transactions and new accounting rules applicable to 4,000+ funds globally creating transparent disclosures to shareholders and contributing to this company’s strong market reputation. Accounting policy professionals are viewed as “go to resources” within this company and the funds industry for new and complex accounting and regulatory matters. Tremendous importance exists to accurately deliver on these responsibilities as it crystallizes this company’s brand as market leader.
Current Responsibilities
  • Serve as a technical advisor on US GAAP, IFRS and other accounting bases for investment company matters related to (1) financial statement presentation, (2) NAV accounting and calculation oversight, (3) product launches, liquidations, and (4) complex transactions, compliance, regulatory, and litigation matters
  • Review and/or document accounting policies related to funds and related products
  • Collaborate with various financial reporting teams on implementation of new standards
  • Monitor for changes to accounting standards, evaluate impacts and identify required responses
  • Participate in accounting and industry group activities, as appropriate
  • Maintain strong working relationships with multiple internal and external partners including standard setters, audit firms, legal counsel and Corporate Finance.
  • Provide accounting and reporting commentary on this company's regulator comment letters
  • Sponsor internal company's trainings on recent and critical accounting topics
  • Create and distribute this company's thought leadership for this company's leaders and its clients
  • Present materials on technical accounting topics to fund boards
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics or finance;
  • 12+ years of experience leading investment accounting, financial reporting and/or accounting policy under US GAAP or IFRS;
  • CPA and/or 5+ years of relevant public accounting experience preferred;
  • Understanding of technical and regulatory issues affecting the investment company industry;
  • Knowledge of accounting operations impacting in mutual funds, exchange traded funds, international funds, complex derivatives, complex fixed income, money market, and/or closed-end funds.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills including ability to clearly articulate results of financial analyses as wells as issues to senior management and external parties;
  • Builds working partnerships and teaming in the workplace.
  • Generates fresh ideas using structured thinking by reevaluating existing approaches and processes;
  • Proactively acts upon opportunities and is a self-starter. (Takes initiative).
