Job description
As an Actuarial Analyst in Financial Analysis and Valuation, you will work alongside and learn from actuaries to complete quarterly and annual valuation and financial reporting tasks for life, annuity, and health lines of business. You will learn product designs of insurance products of the company to value product liabilities and project future product cash flows and financial statements in accordance with Statutory and Tax Reserve regulations and Actuarial Standards of Practice.  You will develop, write, maintain, and improve programs and processes, actuarial software, spreadsheets, and databases.  
You will apply basic concepts in insurance company Accounting Practices and Procedures to ensure the reserves and other items calculated by the actuarial department are correctly reflected in company financial statements.  Consistent progress toward ASA designation is encouraged and supported by the actuarial study program.  An internal rotation program lets you gain experience within other areas inside the life actuarial division.
This position offers a hybrid work schedule and is based out of our corporate offices in Bloomington, IL.
How does an Actuarial Analyst make an impact?
  • Builds actuarial assumptions and models using a variety of tools, including actuarial modeling software, data visualization applications, programming languages and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Communicates results to direct management, verbally, in writing or in presentation form. Documents work according to actuarial standards of practice.
  • Works towards actuarial designation from the Society of Actuaries.
Qualifications: Do you have what we’re looking for?
  • 2 or more years of actuarial or related experience.
  • 3 or more exams toward Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation.
  • Experience working with Life, Health, and/or Annuity products.
  • Strong technical and communication skills.
  • Modeling and/or valuation experience preferred.
  • This is an intermediate level professional role, which typically requires 2+ years of relevant experience. This could also be filled as an entry level professional role, which typically requires minimal experience.
