Job Profile Summary

Lead, direct and manage accounting functions related to financial accounting and reporting, operations accounting and regulatory basis of accounting for business segment.
 
 
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
 
 
  • Establish and implement short- and long-range goals, objectives and structures for the accounting organization that are aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of the Form 10-Q and Form 10-K filings including segment financial results and/or consolidated financial statements, management's discussion and analysis, supporting schedules and footnotes.
  • Oversee preparation and review of financial statements filed with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
  • Oversee operational accounting functions and settlement of commercial contracts.
  • Regularly interface with independent auditors regarding financial statement audits.
  • Responsible for the evaluation of all significant accounting transactions and advising senior management of accounting implications.
  • Research and implement relevant accounting standards and prepare memos supporting accounting positions.
  • Analyze and approve accounting policies, procedures and corresponding controls to ensure Sarbanes-Oxley, regulatory and/or Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) compliance and integrity of financial statements and reports.
  • Review and approve information and reports provided to management, employees, regulatory agencies, auditors and others relative to classification and/or accounting treatment of taxes, revenues, earnings, expenses, policies and procedures.
  • Compile, prepare, verify and/or approve information and reports including but not limited to:
    • Policies and procedures
    • Financial results
    • Financial forecasts and budgets
    • Operating performance
     
  • Mentor, coach and develop a team of directors, managers and individual contributors engaged in accounting functions, driving a diverse and inclusive team culture, collaborating to deliver high standards of service, quality and value to achieve business results.
  • Collaborate with and support leaders in other accounting business segments units and commercial / regulatory teams to ensure alignment of strategies, activities and resources.
  • Prepare and present recommendations to senior management.
  • Develop strong relationships and effective communication mechanisms with commercial leaders, business leaders and senior management for delivery of initiatives.
 
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting or related field with a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and the following direct accounting experience to include the following:
 
Work Experience
  • Experience with and thorough knowledge or corporate accounting methods, practices and procedures.
  • Experience and training related to:
    • Financial accounting and US GAAP standards
    • Operational accounting
    • Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting
    • FERC accounting
     
  • Experience guiding, motivating and developing a diverse group of employees to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Experience developing advanced financial analytics, modeling and evaluations.
  • Experience monitoring, analyzing and presenting the impact of proposed accounting and regulatory changes to senior management.
  • Energy experience preferred.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of: energy industry including: regulatory compliance, operational accounting, application of financial principles and reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of: accounting information systems with advanced proficiency in Excel.
