Essential Responsibilities:
  • Conducts independent work in support of all phases of the clinical technology lifecycle.
  • Manages complex projects and/or multiple moderately complex projects.
  • Demonstrates leadership to the project teams.
  • Assists with the development and delivery of processes and programs to monitor emerging technologies; report healthcare related technology trends; assess new healthcare related technologies; disseminate healthcare related technology information as appropriate across this company's enterprise.
  • Assists with the development and delivery of processes and programs to develop equipment configurations in consultation with user groups and strategic partners.
  • Assists with the development and delivery of processes and programs for the production of 3-5 year clinical technology forecasts and strategic plans for service area, regional, and national purchasing plans. Conducts cost-benefit analyses.
  • Assists with the development and delivery of processes and programs for consultative support to the regional and national Clinical Technology leadership in the development of service maintenance contracts; data analysis, technology assessments and forecasts, and other forms of customized consultation.
  • Assists with the development and delivery of processes and programs for the deployment of clinical technology in new and existing care delivery environments; provision of technical and environmental requirements; assistance with the reviews of facility construction plans, templates; assistance with the reviews of start-up equipment lists; assistance with equipment installations as needed.
  • Assists with the development and delivery of processes and programs for system assessment, design, implementation, and support strategy for clinical technology IT networks and integrations within service areas, regions, and/or across the enterprise.
  • Assists with the development and delivery of processes and programs for the reviews of FDA and non-regulatory Hazard Alerts to determine appropriate level of response in collaboration with the National Product Recall Management team; consultation with operational leaders, risk managers, and facility directors to ensure compliance at the service area, regional, and enterprise levels.
  • Assists with the development and delivery of processes and programs for incident investigations and equipment performance analysis.
  • Serves as a support to the primary Kaiser Permanente Clinical Technology program liaison to the broader external healthcare industry; in particular to healthcare technology committees and workgroups; supports development of strategies to incorporate industry best practices into this company's Clinical Technology program.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
  • Minimum seven (7) years of engineering experience required.
Education
  • Master's degree in engineering or engineering technology required OR a bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology WITH three (3) additional years of experience in engineering.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Possess and maintains a valid U.S. Driver's license.

Additional Requirements:
  • Experience leading moderately complex projects and/or teams.
  • Demonstrated application of systems engineering principles.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of clinical technology (ie, devices and systems) used in at least two clinical specialties along with an understanding of the related clinical practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of information technologies as they relate to networking, integration, and interoperability of clinical technologies.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database management, and presentation software.
  • Demonstrated application of project management methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to clinical technologies in healthcare environments.
  • Demonstrated understanding of advanced healthcare technology management.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Clinical engineering experience within a healthcare technology management department preferred.
  • Biomedical/Clinical engineering or engineering technology preferred.
  • Active pursuit of certification as a Clinical Engineer.
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer; or other related professional certification.
